Report to: SMA Chief Operating Officer
Directs the organization's physician recruitment function and establishes and implements policies for recruiting, screening, and interviewing clinicians to fill organizational roles. Leverages existing provider network and geographical knowledge to manage all aspects of provider recruitment, hiring, onboarding and retention for Sturdy Memorial Hospital and Associates. Sources candidates and manages contracted recruitment firms. Works directly with physician and provider candidates to offer contracted positions to meet the needs of the Hospital and Associates.
Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of physician and/or provider recruitment management
- Experience with physician recruitment continuum from sourcing through contracting and on-boarding
- Vast understanding of physician hiring including permanent, locum and per diem, with some knowledge of visa requirements
- Ability to maintain web-based recruitment subscriptions (Sturdy website, CareerMD, and PracticeMatch), regularly reviewing to ensure they are current and accurate. Research new recruitment tools/services to improve recruitment results improving ROI.
- Excellent administrative, telephone, verbal, and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to clearly, accurately and professionally present and explain complex information to employees, managers, candidates and third-party recruiters
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently
- Must be computer literate and have a thorough understanding of technology including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Gant Charts and Outlook.
Duties
- Establishes and maintains relationships with employment agencies, external recruiters, professional associations, or other organizations that can ensure a continuous pipeline of suitable employment candidates.
- Develops policies governing the candidate screening and interview scheduling process. Establishes standards for credential, reference, or background checks.
- Design and implement strategies to attract talented and diverse physicians
- Leads sourcing strategies through a variety of sourcing channels including the use of social media, events and other innovative recruitment strategies
- Develop recruitment pipeline including relationships and outreach to residency programs and medical schools
- Serves as subject matter expert on best practices related to recruiting and is responsible for the development of the overall strategy for physician recruitment
- Provide an excellent experience for candidates
- Provides input to improve onboarding and training programs
- Actively work with COO on present and future provider needs for the organizations, produce and distribute active search documents to senior leadership team
- Maintain a database of physician and provider candidates and clear names with recruitment firms in a timely manner
- Review CV’s and determine that candidates meet required qualifications
- Phone screen candidates and/or coordinate phone screening interviews
- Coordinate and schedule interviews, both virtual and in-person, including collecting feedback
- Coordinate offer development working with COO and CFO
- Produce, deliver and manage receipt of contracts. Distribute new hire announcement to all involved departments
- Actively work with Medical Staff Office to ensure candidates are meeting deadlines for smooth on-boarding and achieving contracted start date
- Develop strategies for candidate sourcing including holding and attending events to meet potential candidates
- Track expenses, submit invoices, create requisitions and prepare reports
